This is a poem inspired by my brother .. yes we argue all the time and though many slurs are tossed back and forth he doesn’t mean the words he says and neither do I, but I would like him to realize that words may cause unintentional pain.
Go back to Buffalo is what they tell me when we argue. Go back to Buffalo, you don’t live here anymore. Go back to Buffalo they say because they don’t like my “don’t care attitude”. Go back to Buffalo, the words that break my heart a little more every time I hear them. Go back to Buffalo, cuz here you don’t belong. Go Back to Buffalo, don’t you have your sisters over there? Go back to Buffalo, if only they knew that if I went back to Buffalo I would have nothing. No family to depend on when I’m in need. No sisters to enjoy the college bliss. No boyfriend to cheer me up when I’m feeling low. No motivation to help me through the college stress. No laughter. No spirit. Nothing.
Sometimes people say things when they are mad with-out giving it any thought, words can be painful and though you may not mean them at all words are weapons that can be instilled in some one’s mind slowly destroying a person inside. So before you speak out of anger think about the consequences these words may have.
